The ladies are set to shine at Clonmel Greyhound Stadium tonight as the semi-finals of the €2,000-to-the-winner Swiftrack BC Ltd Unraced Bitch Stake 525 feature on an eight-race card.
Poppys Delight set the standard last weekend as she made a winning start to her career, posting a smart 28.90 for Robert and Conor O’Flynn. On that occasion, the June whelp made every yard to score and, given her tender age and a favourable draw in red, she is likely to take some stopping in the opening semi-final tonight. The sectional clocks suggest that the daughter of Ballymac Cashout should lead and, if doing so, expect her to prove difficult to peg back. Of her rivals, Quivers Layla was an eye-catcher in defeat last time out for Adam Dunford and will be finishing fast, while Ballymac Madara also made a winning debut, posting 29.37. However, it's safe to assume Gearoid O’Brien’s charge has plenty more up her sleeve.
The second semi-final could also see Rallying Ruby make it two wins from as many starts for Dan Flynn and Christopher Delaney. The May ’25 daughter of Dorotas Wildcat was flawless in posting 28.99 last time out and, with a favourable draw in trap two, she looks to hold strong claims of maintaining her unbeaten record. That said, litter sisters Tyrap Skye and Tyrap Chilli are likely to pose the biggest threats to the favourite.
