Mylerstown Nell and Home Darragh took the spoils in the semi-finals of the Eamon Wheatley Memorial at Newbridge on Friday night. The former went fastest when proving too strong in the opening semi-final for owners Tony and Donal Coyle.

The daughter of Ballymac Anton and Fays Carmel was never far away before getting the better of long-time leader Florida Major for a two-length verdict in 29.00. Blacktrench Boy also progressed in third, a further length adrift.

DARRAGH IMPRESSES

Home Darragh made his move down the back straight in the second heat. Prominent into the bend, he steered wide of his rivals before launching his challenge to halfway.

Going to the front long before the third turn, Joe Campbell’s son of Jaytee Jet and Home Julie eased on before seeing off Snazzy Lee by a length in 29.29. Snazzy Cinnamon was a length and a half away in third.
