DREAM GOES FAST IN 1XBET ISLANDBRIDGE OPEN SPRINT

Ian Fortune

Since debuting last June, Tiermana Dream has been progressing steadily as a sprinter, developing into one of the best in training over two bends but his Friday night display in the opening round of the 1XBET Islandbridge Open Sprint was different class to anything that came before.

The razor-sharp son of Ballyhimikin Jet and Tiermana Jetty set a really impressive standard in the opening round of the sprint stake, posting a truly brilliant 18.30 on his way to a comfortable victory over favourite Bomber Nina. Trained by Colm Fitzgerald for the Zero Zero Syndicate, Tiermana Dream broke on terms but quickly moved through the gears to go clear into the bend. It was all very easy thereafter as he went on to beat Bomber Nina by five lengths.

BROWNE TOO HOT TO HANDLE

Next fastest was Michael O’Dwyer’s Stonepark Browne as he overpowered his rivals in the opening heat.

The Michael O’Donovan trained son of Malachi and Coolavanny Ella was headed at boxes by Raha Rua but soon charged into the lead before going on to see off Flyers Penney by four lengths in 18.52.

BENS SEES OFF SCAMPI

Portrush Ben lowered the colours of Droopys Scampi in the final heat, making the most of an inside pitch and flying start to hold his rival into the bend before digging deep to secure a fine success.

Trained by Pat Kiely for Adrian McGarry, the son of Ballymac Cashout and Dingys Diva held on by a half-length from Droopys Scampi in 18.62 with the fast-finishing Rallying Billy the same distance away in third.

ACCELERATION THE KEY FOR RIOS

Rios De Janeiro emerged on top in Heat 3 for Paul Matthews and Josie Burns.

Although not the first to hit the ground running, the son of Good Cody and Meenagh Miracle did show superb immediate acceleration to lead halfway to the turn. Once doing so, he was never headed and proceeded to come home a length to the good over Yurty Magurty in 18.86.

MASSIVE RUN FROM WARRIOR

There was a massive run in the final of the Tote Betting A1 NB 525 as the Declan McDonagh trained Ballyea Warrior confirmed his superior semi-final form by posting a brilliant 28.17 in a flawless display.

Noel Gavin’s talented son of Ballymac Kingdom and Wolfofallstreets was simply too sharp for his rivals, shooting from the outside box to comfortably clear the bend. There was no let up thereafter as he eased away to eventually cross the line with five lengths to spare over Highview Carol. A step up in grade is now inevitable for Ballyea Warrior but in this latest evidence, he is more than equipped for it.

ROSETTA STONE JUSTIFIES FAVOURITISM

Rosetta Stone later justified favouritism in the final of the Upcoming Irish Oaks A3 Bitch 525.

Sent off the 4-5 market leader, Laurence Jones’ daughter of Droopys Sydney and Blossoms Pet was soon in front and proceeded to ease on to beat the fast-finishing Rathdaniel Ruth by four and a half lengths in 28.52.
