Less than a fortnight after running in the final of the Star Sports & Orchestrate English Greyhound Derby, Ballymac Ralf has been sold and is set to joint Paul Young in the UK. Before then, his new connections are hoping he will have a final race on this side of the Irish Sea should he get into the TIME Dundalk International on July 12th.
Garry Dempsey confirmed the news yesterday afternoon that Billy Boyle, Adam Williams, Geoff Bowmer and Steve Radford have stepped into purchase the brilliant son of Ballymac Cooper and Ballymac Wisdom.
Dempsey is set to take charge of the flying fawn, who had just five starts in Ireland ahead of his English Derby challenge, for the Dundalk race before he journeys to his new home.
It’s a notable acquisition and one that could certainly pay dividends for his owners that are no strangers to big race success. It seems safe to assume Ballymac Ralf will establish himself as one of the best in the UK and looks tailor-made for the likes of Hove and Nottingham. Paul Young will no doubt be targeting the major events over 500m and potentially further in time.
STUD ALSO UK BOUND
Ballymac Stud will be joining Ballymac Ralf in his new surroundings also. He has been purchased by Adam Williams and Tony Head and is another that could fly in the UK.
As a raw youngster he established himself as a leading fancy for last year’s Irish Greyhound Derby and ran well in the early rounds of the English equivalent.
Much like his kennel companion, he will be really suited by the tracks with a more galloping nature and is worth keeping on your radar.
