Kilkenny kicked off their sales season with this year’s maiden meeting being held last Saturday, February 7th.
The Catalogue featured 61 Lots, with 60 turning out on the day. There were bids for each and every greyhound on the day and all but four were eventually sold.
The highlight of the sales came in the form of well-bred racer Blackstone Marbl (Tommy Shelby – Magnetism). Lot 31 on the day, Marbl got the upper hand early in his trial and made all to score in a powerful 29.46 (rated .30 slow). The June 24’ whelpwas popular with potential buyers and would go on to top the sale at €4,800.
A GOOD START TO THE DAY
The trials kicked off in impressive fashion as Lot 2 Ohtheretom (Droopys Got It – Ohtheresky) posted a very smart 29.74 (rated .30 slow) at just 16 months old.
He would later go on to sell for €3,400, with runner-up in the trial, Lot 1 Blacklabel Power (Black Shaw – Temple Armani) fetching €2,350.
In the following trial, Ohtheretom’s brother, Lot 5 Baltray Hope (Droopys Got it – Ohtheresky), went on to post 29.95 (rated .30 slow), later selling for €3,000.
Some eye catchers on the catalogue were Michael Delwyn Jones trio of Lot 12 Anglesey Eddie, Lot 14 Anglesey West and Lot 17 Anglesey Luca (King Sheeran – Ballymac Reymie). They didn’t disappoint on the day with Eddie and Luca winning their trials and West finishing second. In the auction, Eddie made €2,600, West went for €2,000 and Luca sold for €2,800.
Later on in the catalogue, some select Lots included Lot 44 Amidus Ozzy €1,900, Lot 47 Hatfield View €2,600, Lot 50 Coolmeen Jack €2,000 and Lot 51 Skirk Sky €1,800
