Rásaíocht Con Éireann is pleased to announce to Industry Stakeholders that pursuant to Section 5 of the Greyhound Racing Act, S.I. No. 15 of 2019, draft regulations relating to the following areas are now available to view at www.grireland.ie

Use, Management and Control of Greyhound Race Tracks Regulations
These regulations set out the rules with regard to the use, management and control of greyhound race tracks to provide for a prohibition on persons performing certain roles on greyhound race tracks save under and in accordance with permits granted by the Board, a prohibition on holding greyhound races if certain persons are not in attendance, a prohibition on certain persons having a beneficial interest in the income from a greyhound race track at which they are required to perform their functions, in greyhounds raced thereon and on placing bets on any races thereon, and a prohibition on certain persons having a beneficial interest in bookmaking on greyhound race tracks. All previous regulations made by the Board in that connection will be revoked.

Public Sale of Greyhounds Regulations
These regulations set out the rules, conditions and procedures under which a public sale of greyhounds may be held and include arrangements for trials, allocation of traps, seeding requirements, duties of participants, and the arrangements for assigning catalogue lot numbers to greyhounds and the publication of sales outcomes. All previous regulations made by the Board in that connection will be revoked.

Artificial Insemination of Greyhounds Regulations
These regulations set out the detailed rules governing the practice and procedure of the artificial insemination of greyhounds. The regulations additionally prohibit the practice of artificial insemination of greyhounds by surgical implantation and set out the requirements for the registration of persons engaging in the practice of artificial insemination, stud sires and resultant progeny

Public Consultation
In compliance with Section 5 of the Greyhound Racing Act, S.I. No. 15 of 2019, submissions from the public may be made, by email, in respect of the following draft regulations.

Public Consultation Period
The public consultation period for submissions to be received in respect of the above draft regulations is open for one month. All submissions should be received on or before January 16th 2026.
