DREAM A WINNING SIRE

Ian Fortune

2022 Juvenile Classic winner Wi Can Dream sired a litter in Sweden a couple of years back out of former Swedish Bitch of the Year Cayenne.

Most of the litter would turn into prolific winners but he celebrated another milestone this weekend, siring his first winner on Irish soil.

Indeed, he has three litters on the ground but his first runner was Wi Can Trey and he made a bright start to his career. Fittingly, trained by Pat Guilfoyle and owned by Lars and Anita Wicander, who were lucky enough to own Wi Can Dream, the massive tracker looked a nice prospect.

Despite weighing in at a whopping 88lbs, the June ’24 whelp looked razor-sharp, showing tremendous early speed to dictate from the opening yards. He would stride out to the line to beat Glideaway Duke by three and a half lengths in a quick 28.81.

Out of top brood Mystical Moll, he is a half-brother to former Produce Stakes and British Select Stakes winner Unanimouspanther and the exceptional Magical Mary, who is now a top brood herself.

We are also hearing some encouraging reports on some of the other Wi Can Dream pups on the ground so don’t be surprised if you see his name popping up more in the coming months. Wi Can Dream is currently standing with Pat Guilfoyle.
