Thomas Glynn’s Carrick Bruno seems set for a big future.

The exciting son of King Sheeran and Ballyhoe Samhain took Friday’s feature at Shelbourne Park, the final of the TOTE Betting ON1 350 showing real class and promise in the process.

An impressive semi-final winner in 18.57, he went even faster on this occasion. Breaking smartly, he displayed immediate acceleration to seize control into the bend. The David Murray trained star went on to contain another bright prospect in Glengar Robin by a length and a half in 18.43. Have little doubt, you will be hearing much more of the front two in the near future. 

KING RULES IN DERBY TRIAL STAKE

There was also a notable display in the BOYLE Sports Derby Trial Stake with Metal King showing real promise as he posted a superb 29.48 for the 500yd trip in what was just his second career outing.

The Graham Holland trained son of King Sheeran and Coolavanny Poppy belied his lack of experience to emerge a facile trap to line winner. Flashing from the inside box, he proceeded to make every inch, coming home two lengths clear of another promising type in Mill Willow.

JOACHIM AND LUCKY SCORE

Gaytime Joachim and Town Lucky emerged on top in the semi-finals of the Boylesports Derby Starts Soon AO 550.

The former forced his way to the front on the turn before going on to see off Kilcolgan Eddie. Brendan O’Connell’s son of Roaming Turbo emerged on top by a length in 29.76, while Town Lucky finished at speed to pick up long-time leader Harlequin Gee Up in the second heat. Sean and AJ Dooley’s Town Lucky won by three parts of a length in 29.72.
