As we reflect on the brilliance of The Other Kobe’s Derby success at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night, it’s worth pointing out that in victory he posted the fastest third bend sectional of the entire classic.
Jenifer O’Donnell wouldn’t dare to dream that he could produce such a run on the biggest stage but his 16.85 return to the third turn was enough to secure a decisive advantage. It also means that through the whole competition he was the only greyhound to dip under the 17 second barrier, doing so twice.
His 16.88 in the quarter finals has been the fastest of this year’s competition but to better it in the final itself was incredible and, given the fact that he only won by a half-length, completely necessary.
