ANGIE SETS STANDARD AGAIN IN BOSCO MEMORIAL

Pomba Angie was again the star of proceedings at Newbridge on Friday night as she followed up a superb opening round effort to set the standard in the second round of the Bosco Gleeson Memorial A2/A3.

The David Flanagan trained daughter of Ballymac Cooper and Distant Aoife was off the pace early but moved second down the back straight behind Glenlara Dubh in the opening heat. Drawing closer into the third turn, she made her move as they hit the home straight. Staying on well, Matthew Derrick’s charge emerged a good winner by three lengths in 28.80 (rated .20 slow). 

WEAVER NEXT FASTEST

Next fastest was Droopy Weaver.

Trained by Ian Reilly for Michael Dunphy, the son of Droopys Got It and Droopys Song took charge around the opening two bends and eased on to see off Jet Fighter by four lengths in 28.90 (.20 slow).

TIMES EMERGES

Changed Times was just two spots slower in the final heat as he came through to win for the Keeping It Civil Syndicate.

Moving to the front down the back straight, the well-bred son of Ballymac Kingdom and Ballymac Minton then held the late charge of Clashroe Ted by a length in 28.92.

HOOSHIN ON TOP

Emma Larkin and Noel Melia were on the mark in Heat 2 as No More Hooshin led early to emerge a comfortable winner.

The son of Glencorbry Pat and Ballydaniel Oi proceeded to see off Black Daimler by two lengths in 29.03.
